Nationhood births nurture and protect its children in all cases. Our nation usually until now never had a serious emergency regarding the lives of its citizens. For instance, lack of social amenities rips off many families of pleasure and good hygiene. There used to be privilege behaviour in health, consumption, transportation, just to mention a few.

From the insurgency of Covid-19, there seems to be a convergence of behaviour and thought on all measures of preventive ways and normal life.

Nationhood must sustain and be proactive into the future by the provision of basic social amenities. Nationhood must make it almost normal when water, electricity, good transportation system, good health system are available in minutes.

We necessarily need not shower or ask to be thankful for nationhood provision of these. But, we must be thankful when nationhood maintains law and order, creativity in policies which help stabilize our economy.

Now, it is time to open the Teshie Desalination Plant to allow people to access running water.

Start a broader approach to the provision of all basic social amenities. Let us chase COVID-19 away!!

Writer: Dr. Jamal Mohammed
Senior Lecturer, KTU
